WHAT WE BELIEVE
…ABOUT GOD
There are three important, fundamental things we believe about God:
1. There is only one God and He is our Creator and sustainer.
The Word of God teaches us that there is only one God (Isaiah 44:6) who exists in three persons: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7).
God is the Creator of everything (Genesis 1:1) and He also created each and every one of us – in His image (Genesis 1:27).
And because He’s created us, God knows everything about us: our needs, our deepest fears and our greatest desires. He’s not only given us life, he sustains our lives by providing everything we need (Philippians 4:19). Regardless of who you are, every one of us needs God (Acts 17:28).
2. His Son, Jesus, is the Savior of the world.
God sent his Son, Jesus, to the earth…just for us…to restore humankind’s hope and to renew our broken connection with Him (Romans 5:8). Jesus is our gateway to God the Father (John 14:6).
In reality, Jesus’ human incarnation and ministry on earth were quite remarkable – from beginning to end. He was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:18-25), lived a little over 33 ½ years on earth, was perfect in every way (2 Corinthians 5:21), and essentially, changed the world.
While on earth, Jesus was a teacher, a prophet and a healer who showed unending compassion toward people who were poor and hurting and who the rest of society had given up on, rejected and condemned. Many times, the Bible says, He illustrated to those who were downtrodden that their lives were precious and worth living (Matthew 11:28-30).
Because of His great works and authority among his followers, Jesus was charged with crimes by the Roman government, which were punishable by death through crucifixion on The Cross.
Many people wonder: if Jesus was God’s Son, why did He have to die?
Jesus’ death had purpose: God loved us so much that He was willing to sacrifice His only son to save us (Romans 5:8). His death was the ultimate sacrifice in exchange for the sins of all humankind (1 Peter 2:24).
But, that’s not where the story ends! Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead and before He went to rejoin God the Father in Heaven, He gave His followers instructions to go into the world and preach the Gospel. He also promised them that one day He would return to the Earth to set up the Kingdom of God (Mark 16:8-19).
3. He loves you – unconditionally.
God’s love for each of us is unexplainable. In fact, He loves you and I so much that He sacrificed His only Son so that we could be forgiven for our sins and have a right to live with Him eternally (John 3:16).
Not only does God love, He IS love (1 John 4:16).
What does that mean? It means that regardless of what you or I have done, He still loves us unconditionally. He’ll never stop because His very nature is love!
There’s nothing we can do or say to make God love us any more or any less and nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). It’s just that strong. His love for us will be forever, and we can be secure in that until the end of time (Matthew 28:20).
…ABOUT THE BIBLE
Since the beginning of time, God has been speaking to mankind, offering guidance and instructions. In order to capture His words for future generations, God used men from all walks of life to write them down. These passages and books were all compiled into one book that we now call the Bible.
You’ll notice that we’ve referenced quite a few passages from the Bible to help explain our beliefs. That’s because it’s the inspired Word of God – free from errors and mistakes (2 Timothy 3:16).
The truth is, although it’s an ancient document, the Bible is still very relevant and serves many purposes:
It contains God’s instructions for living life
It’s inspiration for challenging times
It illustrates perfectly the truth about who God is
…ABOUT YOU
With every human being, there’s more than what meets the eye. That’s because God created each of us with unique skills, talents, gifts and purposes. Even though our physical bodies will eventually pass away, God created us as spiritual beings – meaning, there is part of us that will live on forever.
We will either live together with God in Heaven or live apart from Him in hell. In fact, besides Jesus, there’s no one who has lived up to God’s standard for living. We’ve all sinned (Romans 3:23). But because Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice, we now have the opportunity to secure our eternal destination with God in Heaven so long as we confess our belief in what Jesus did for us on the Cross, repent of our sins and acknowledge him as Lord over our lives (Acts 16:30-31).
Many people often wonder why they’ve been placed on this earth. Maybe you’ve questioned whether your life is even worth living. Without a doubt, the answer is yes! Your life matters and God desires to be in relationship with you. In fact, despite everything, it’s God’s will that we each live an abundant life (John 10:10).
Regardless of who you are, where you’ve been, what you’ve gone through or even what you’ve done, God can use you.
