April 2015

Dear Friends & Family, I hope this finds you doing well. It is end of a very fruitful month. Renewing TV contracts, acquiring new stations, developing new languages, recording podcasts and traveling internationally have caused me to rely on the grace of God like never before. The highlight of the month was, of course, my travels to Nigeria. Out of all the countries in Africa, Nigeria is one that I have never been to and I was a bit apprehensive bringing my youngest son Rhett with me. We began distributing our Youthbtye discipleship tools throughout the nation earlier this year and its reception has been amazing. One of the participating church organizations asked if I would come and be a part of a yearly youth event entitled “Embrace”. This event draws teens from all walks of life, providing a venue to not only proclaim the word of God publicly, but also hear from some of the nations biggest names in Christian music. As with many other African events, the festivities always begin late and always finish later than expected and this event was no different. Scheduled for 12 hours, this Good Friday event proved to be a test in patience and grace. I took the stage at 2:30am, 2 hours later than was initially planned, but this snag actually worked out well as it allowed even more hungry souls to enter the venue.

The event began at 6pm and finished at 6am. I got on the stage at 2:30am and shouted the house down for an hour. The altar response was powerful!

I was honored to be able to speak Easter morning at a local church. I must admit I felt a bit underdressed.

As usual, the spirit of God honored the preaching of His word and began to move over the crowd of teens, which had grown to over 15,000. I was amazed that as the Word of God was read, the crowd of usually boisterous souls quieted to almost a whisper. When I was concluding the message you could feel the tangible presence of God descend on the grounds. As I made an appeal for Christ, hundreds stood and began making their way towards the front of the stage. With hands lifted and voices raised, I was again amazed at God’s grace and how it had again provided a fresh start to all who responded in faith. After a prayer I asked, “Who at the altar and in the crowd felt a call to be in full-time ministry?” Hundreds of hands shot towards the sky in response. The host pastor looked back at me with great surprise and smiled knowing that God was preparing an army of young people to proclaim Jesus as Lord throughout the nation of Nigeria. Thanks for helping us add to the Kingdom of God!

We had a layover on our flight home and I had the honor of showing Rhett around Amsterdam. He was amazed!

February 2015

Dear Friends & Family, Belated Happy Valentine’s Day! February has been a very busy month and we still have more than a week left. The last week of January found me in Cleveland, Tennessee with my friend Perry Stone and the Omega Center International participating in their annual Winter Reformation event. Over 2000 teens filled the auditorium, each anticipating that God was going to speak to them personally. I was requested to bring my large python Twinkie to the event. This made for interesting conversation considering the fact that the original snake handling movement in churches began less than 10 miles from Cleveland. This made for a very entertaining evening. As with any event that the snake is introduced at, the example is easily understood and quickly embraced (no pun intended) As I unpacked the message, you could feel the spirit of God beginning to move on the hearts of all in attendance. The altar call was a powerful time of encouragement and deliverance, with Jesus responding to each heart that softened before Him. The following Saturday morning I flew out of Atlanta to be a part of a missions event in my home town of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Although I have been an official “non-resident” for almost 20 years, I do very much consider myself to be southern at heart. Healing Place Church has been an integral part of my missions adventure since the early 90’s and to be able to partner with them in this weekend event meant the world to me.

As usual, I had the opportunity to bring out my living example “Twinkie” on the Friday night event. As he began to squeeze me you could hear the crowd gasp!

After returning from Baton Rouge I made my way to Sacramento, California to be a part of a youth event that has always been an incredible blesssing to me. Since 2000 ( yes, I had hair the first year) I have been honored to be a guest speaker at “Camp Paradise.” Young people from all walks of life have been a part of these events and I have watched many of them grow up before my eyes. The intimate enviroment gave lots of opportunites for personal one-on-one ministry, something I rarely get to do in much larger events. As He always does, Jesus showed Himself strong in the lives of all in attendance. Next weekend I will be staying home and will be the guest speaker at the San Bernardino Rock Church’s youth event. This is gonna be a blast! Pray for me!

I had the opportunity to go back home to Baton Rouge this month to be participate in HPC’S missions weekend. What an honor to encourage the church to “go into all the world”!

Janaury 2015

Dear Family, Partners and Friends, I hope you had a great holiday season with friends and family. Our Christmas day here in California announced the arrival of the Santa Ana winds. It was a warm, blustery day, not exactly the type of Christmas day some of us are used to, but it was great just the same. In April of last year, we recorded a program on the “Enjoying Everyday Life with Joyce Meyer” program and were thrilled to see it air on the 19th of December. The response was overwhelming and confirmed to me and others on our team that we are exactly where God wants us: positioned to bring life to a generation trapped in hopelessness and despair. Our goal is to continue to host Life Events around the globe during 2015 and beyond. The fruit that has been produced as a result of these endeavors has been remarkable.

Our program with Joyce Meyer on teen suicide aired December 19th. The response we received was incredible. It was obvious that God is wanting to expose this lie and promote the life of Christ to a generation.

At the end of the month I will be with OCI Ministries in Cleveland, Tennessee speaking at their Winter Reformation event. I’m always happy to be with my friends Perry Stone, Mark Casto and the Voice of Evangelism family. Over the past 5 years it has been encouraging to see what God has done, fulfilling Perry’s vision to provide a place of ministry for a generation. I ask that you please keep this event in prayer; I know God is going to speak HIS life into all in attendance.

We will continue to hold “Life Events” around the world during 2015.

As we stepped into 2015, and I am evaluating all that we accomplished in 2014, I am aware that if had not been for you, your prayers, your support and your faith in our outreaches, none of it would have been possible. The book of Romans declares that we must go and preach the Gospel. But how can we go unless we are sent? I want to again say thank you for sending me to a lost generation, being able to share the good news of Jesus. I am fully committed to see 2015 be another incredible year of harvest for the Kingdom of God! Chad & Shay Daniel

December 2014

Dear Friends & Family,

Happy Thanksgiving and an early Merry Christmas! I just returned from a two-week trip to Brazil. We had a very full schedule with events in many key cities along the southern coast. This was my first trip back in a year and it was good to be back with friends. I arrived in the state of Bahia in the city of Salvador to participate in a three-night event. It was like a reunion in many respects because three of the key musical performers who traveled with me a few years ago were present and we were all surprised to be back together again. Each night thousands of young and old filled the outdoor auditorium. Having done so much in the nation and because of our TV broadcast, I would find myself being recognized and cornered for pictures. I was honored, but I would quickly deflect all recognition to Jesus. Each night the Word went forth with great force and the altar was filled to capacity every service. It just never gets old seeing people respond to God’s Word in faith. We departed Bahia and headed down south to the city of Rio de Janeiro to have a service with my friend, Philip Murdoch. This was where my animal handler brought a new addition to our living examples, a 6-month old monkey named Abu and a horned owl named Victoria. Needless to say the crowds went nuts and the meeting took on a life of its own, literally. God moved in such a profound way that night, no one could deny that God was stirring the hearts of all in attendance. The next morning we met with friends, strategized about a new TV broadcast, picked up a few animals and drove 8 hours south to the state of Sao Paulo. Our stop was in the city of Campinas, where we held two nights of meetings. What an honor to see a young church embrace a heart for a generation and watch amazed as the Spirit of God was poured out on all who responded in faith. We then drove back to Rio and caught a flight to the capital city of Brasilia in the state of Goiás. This was new contact and was without question the wildest youth church I have been to in a long time. The church’s name was “Strong Arm of the Lord” and it showed in many ways. Covered in tattoos and with biceps as big as the snake, the people of this church opened their hearts to the message, and filled the altars, asking God to do more in their lives. The next morning we drove three hours to the city of Goiânia to meet with another new contact and hold three nights of service. As always, people would come to see the snake and the living examples but would have an encounter with Jesus that would change their lives in so many ways.

It was great to be back with Graca Filmes and my two friends who have done hundreds of meetings with me since 2010.

In each meeting there was always opportunity for personal ministry- Jesus was touching the hearts of the hurting in every service.

In each meeting there was always opportunity for personal ministry- Jesus was touching the hearts of the hurting in every service.

Three days later, we drove back to Brasilia and dropped off one of the animals we were using. It was interesting because my friend who let us use the snake was not a Christian nor was his family. His sister, however, had met us the previous week at “Strong Arm of the Lord Church” to drop off the snake we were going to be using. He began to tell me that his sister had an encounter with Jesus that night and could not stop talking about it and has decided to go to “SAOL” church regularly. I am always amazed when I receive reports like this. It shows me that everything we do is about “HIM”! You never know the impact your relationship with Jesus may have on a person’s life, even in the most unusual circumstances.

It was an amazing trip with hundreds receiving Christ and experiencing the loving embrace of a God who gave everything for them. We are continuing our plans to do even more in the nation of Brazil in 2015; please keep all we do in prayer! Thanks for helping us go!

I am so very thankful to Dave and Joyce Meyer for providing a copy of “Battlefield of the Mind for Teens” in Portuguese to each young person in attendance.

November 2014

Dear Friends & Family,

It has finally begun to get cold here in the Californian desert; it is a much anticipated break. Change is always good, especially when improvement is the desired end. That is exactly how I feel about our current project. Youthbytes is going 100% digital in 2015. We are in the process of building a yearly, video-based, devotional APP for young adults, available for IOS and Android platforms. This will put all of our content, videos messages, teaching notes, prayers and scripture insight in the palm of every teen, in 5 key languages: English, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish and Korean. This yearly devotional will not only provide the truth of God’s Word in a clear and concise form, but will also bring a touch of geography, missions, travel and humor to the lives of all who engage it. Making our material available digitally enables us to interact with young people in a way that they are very accustomed to and comfortable with. I am confident that this move will give us access to teens in nations we could have never reached by traditional methods.

It has been a great end of summer with many projects being completed and others now being started. We will begin production next month here in California at the Salton Sea, also known as America’s Dead Sea. This is a message that I have wanted to create, explaining what happens to a generation when they embrace an attitude of entitlement. It is going to be an eye-opener!

We just released our latest YB DVD entitled “Lost Empire” filmed in Siem Reap, Cambodia at the Angkor Wat complex. This powerful message exposes why people’s visions and dreams can be destroyed and explains what we can do to resist these evil forces in our lives.

We have recently completed our “Lost Empire” program filmed in Cambodia; it is currently airing on Daystar.

I will be in Brazil this month holding meetings around the nation. Please keep these events in your prayers, as I need all that I can get!

Thanks again for standing with us. If it were not for your faithful support and prayers, we could not continue our global advance!

August 2014

Dear Friends & Family,

We hope this letter finds you doing well. Here in Redlands, school has begun; Max is now a sophomore (with a driver’s license) and Rhett is in eighth grade, participating a new sport for him: golf. Shay continues her part-time work at the Children’s Assessment Center of San Bernardino; you can check out this amazing facility on their website (created and maintained by Shay) at cacsbc.com. We are truly amazed at how fast time flies! It has been a good summer, with many irons in the fire.

We started recording “Youthbyte Radio” in June. This project consists of 15-minute programs which are being aired on eight radio stations so far. We currently have recorded 65 programs, with plans to have over 100 recorded by December. Earlier this week we also launched our “Youthbyte Radio” podcast, which will be available to the public next week. If you have access to iTunes or a smartphone you can access it. We will release a new episode every Tuesday; I think you will enjoy these entertaining and informative discussions.

I purposefully spent time here in the states this summer in order to spend some quality time with my family, create the radio program, as well as complete five new Youthbyte teaching tools along with five new television programs. As we prepare for 2015, we have ten new shows in the works that will cover very specialized topics that will bring the truth to a generation in a way that only we can do!

If you have access to the Daystar network you can catch our 30-minute show every Saturday at 12pm (CST). Check your local listings for channels and possible schedule changes.

I will be participating in a number of local events in September and October, with plans to return to international events (India and Brazil) in the month of November. Please keep these upcoming trips and us in your prayers.

We just released our latest YB titles entitled “Traps” which exposes the traps that are set for all humans, both natural and spiritual.

Thanks again for standing with us. If it were not for faithful support and prayers, our efforts would not be possible.

July 2014

Dear Family, Friends & Partners,

I hope this finds you doing well. I just returned from Cape Town, South Africa, where we are continuing our work in some of that nation’s poorest communities. One of my main focuses on this trip was to hold “Life Events”, exposing the lies of suicide with the truth of God’s word. Our first event had over 1300 young people in attendance with hundreds responding to the freedom that only Jesus can provide. The strategy is the same for every event. I utilize the “Sea of Trees” video combined with the story of my father’s suicide, making the relevance of the message a reality. As tears of hope and smiles of deliverance streamed down the faces of those at the altar, I was distinctly aware of one thing: we must stay on the offensive, attacking the lies behind suicide that are taking thousands of young lives around the world, every week. In every meeting, whether it be a school or church event, the magnitude of the suicide problem was very evident. It was also evident that most churches and schools do not talk about this issue, much less provide real-life spiritual solutiuons and application. Those who responded wanted help and desperately wanted to know if freedom was in fact a reality. It was truly amazing to see God’s grace provide strength in times of real weakness for many of these kids. The shame and rejection that these kids deal with is at times unbearable and keeps them in a place of silence and isolation. After the events, pastors and leadership teams shared testimonies of how God was using these events to not only open the spiritual eyes of the hurting, exposing the lies of the enemy, but to also begin the much-needed dialogue on suicide and its effect on families and communities. Please pray that God will give us even more opportunities to communicate the life and freedom found in Christ to a generation who is at the greatest risk.

I was honored to again be with our friends at Hillsong Church in Cape Town. Willing hearts responded to His Word!

Our Youth Jam event was held on South Africa’s public holiday called Youth Day. Mitchell’s Plain was the community chosen for this outreach. Known as South Africa’s largest township, it has deteriorated over the past 25 years into an urban ghetto, a home for gangsters and drug dealers. Working in conjunction with Tygerberg Radio and local churches, we were able to promote the event on every program they broadcasted. Utilizing local and international musical guests, we not only had a concert but an event that celebrated the community and promoted hope to a struggling generation. Over 2500 young people attended the event with lines forming outside for four hours before the doors opened. As the Word of God went forth you could feel that God was wanting to deposit life into the attendees, and the altar call confirmed His heart for even the most desperate. Hundreds came forward weeping, believing that God was going to do good to them! The reports we have been receiving have been very encouraging, so much so that we are planning on holding many more similar events in the next year. Thanks again for helping us go!

I am thankful to Joyce Meyer Ministries for provding us with the book, Battlefield of the Mind for Teenagers, which were handed to teens at each event.

February 2014

Dear Family, Partners and Friends,

I hope this finds you doing well. I just returned from South Africa after three weeks of ministry and adventure! As usual, God ordered our steps and made sure that His Word did not return void. We began our tour in Johannesburg expecting God to do something wonderful in the lives of young people. With meetings being held all over the city and surrounding province, our schedule was jam packed with little room for error. Each day we had meetings and interviews with radio and television stations, not only promoting the meetings in the area, but promoting the Youthbyte discipleship tool and TV show. All of these interviews were interesting because we always had “Eve”, our giant python, with us. Needless to say, each interviewer had to think on their feet as she slithered her way through the studios. It was sight to behold!

God was faithful, loving those who thought all hope was lost; mercy always prevails!

God was faithful, loving those who thought all hope was lost; mercy always prevails!

Our python Eve made a splash in every TV and radio interview. Let’s put it this way - they will never forget who we are or the message of Jesus we proclaim!

Our python Eve made a splash in every TV and radio interview. Let’s put it this way - they will never forget who we are or the message of Jesus we proclaim!

Our meetings in the evenings were tremendous. At the conclusion of each service, teens would rush forward being arrested by the spirit of God. Tears of repentance and heartfelt cries to Jesus could be heard in each and every meeting, again confirming to me that God’s heart is to be a father to a generation. We saw thousands of young lives committed to Jesus in each and every meeting, not includng the countless others impacted via the live TV and radio broadcast of our events.

The conclusion of our Johannesburg trip was a promotional event held in conjunction with one of our distributors in South Africa. They requested that we bring the snake and much to my surprise, they asked me to do a live presentation, explaining what Youthbytes is and how we use the snake to communicate Jesus. Represented were numerous buyers and bookstore owners who were amazed at the simplicity of the message, yet relevance to young and old alike. I am believing that this event will open more doors to see Youthbytes distributed around the nation.

As we began our 12-hour trip from Johannesburg to Cape Town, our “Mystery Van” broke down. Not just once, but 5 separate times, with the last being in the Karoo, one of South Africa’s largest deserts. Battling the torrential storms, sweltering temperatures, 18-wheelers and Cape Cobras, we made the best of a crazy situation, not allowing our joy to be quenched in any way! In the van we had a pit-bull and 4 giant snakes, and no one was willing to stop and help once they saw the snake logo on the doors, much less our unusual cargo. After much prayer and assistance from friends, we made it to the Cape. It took a total of three days to get home; it was a glorious time and a great test of patience!

Arriving in the Cape, we hit the ground running with 3-4 meetings a day. Having already established our presence and ministry in the past year, our calendar was full. Schools, universities and churches clamoured to get us scheduled for an event. Working in conjunction with Tygerburg Radio, we had a promotional team at our disposal, assuring that each meeting was not only full, but broadcast live across the Cape. This media exposure opened even more doors of ministry with radio and TV station employees, seeing our van on the highway, and pulling us over to schedule interviews and programs with their network as well. God has opened so many doors and given so much favor; we are anticipating Him to do even greater things on our return trip in June.

Our meetings in the schools were also very encouraging. Speaking to some of the most at-risk teens in the world, we were able to see the grace of God impact gangsters and drug addicts in a personal way. Unlike schools in the US, we are able to openly communicate Jesus and emphasize the power of His Word. After every assembly kids would come up for prayer, some just wanting to talk and to be encouraged that in HIM, there was always second chance. In each of these schools we are establishing Youthbyte viewing centers, giving opportunity to those who want to know more about Jesus.

Using a tragedy mask, I explain how most teens try to hide from God and the people who love them the most.

Our televsion interviews always opened doors for the televison show to be aired locally.

One of the highlights of our ministry are always the “Life Events” (anti-suicide meetings) that were held at 3 different churches, one of which was broadcast live around the globe on Spirit TV. Without fail, the message of hope in Jesus would ring out as I shared my personal experience with suicide and the death of my father. Utilizing our video entitled The Sea of Trees, the message of hope was constantly being communicated. The topic of suicide can be tough to discuss, especially in church, but as with most uncomfortable issues, it is best to meet it head-on, and that is exactly what we did. It was amazing to see the reaction and great need present in the lives of so many. The response from the participating pastors was one of disbelief and thankfulness, realizing that the enemy is specifically targeting a generation with destruction, utilizing suicide as one of his sinister weapons. I am always overjoyed when Jesus destroys the work of the devil in the lives of people! In fact, the Sea of Trees DVD has recently been released in Christian book stores across South Africa. Please pray that this anointed tool gets into the hands of those who need it most!

Thanks again for your continued support and friendship; we could not do any of this if it were not for you!

December 2013

Dear friends and family, As 2013 comes to a close I wanted to share with you a few testimonies that have encouraged us in many ways. As you know, Youthbytes was translated into Mandarin a few years ago. Our friend John from Hong Kong flew in and spent a week working hard getting all of the shows completed. Having ministered in mainland China many times over the years, I was thrilled to have an opportunity to get the finished product into the hands of those who need it most. Being able to sow into the local church in China can be tricky, especially if you want to do face-to-face events. Since it is not always possible to go, local distribution of our media tool was the logical choice. Working with established ministries already involved with college students, we found that Youthbytes was not only the perfect discipleship tool but also a great evangelistic weapon. The testimonies and reports we have been receiving are very encouraging. The concept and approach of the program is fast-paced and entertaining, but more importantly, is full of the word of God, communicating the basics of Jesus in a way that is easily and readily received by young and old alike.

John, the voice of Youthbytes in Mandarin, in the studio dubbing the program. He said “ Oh, it is easy to do Chad’s voice; he speaks as fast as most Chinese people!”

John, the voice of Youthbytes in Mandarin, in the studio dubbing the program. He said “ Oh, it is easy to do Chad’s voice; he speaks as fast as most Chinese people!”

As of last month we have distributed over 12,000 DVDs of the program in the Mandarin language at no charge to the recipients. The fruit from this endeavour can never be measured in natural terms, but in the light of eternity it is preparing hearts of a generation to live forever in HIM! Without your faithful support this would not be possible. Thanks for helping us reach a generation for Jesus!

Below are two testimonies from young adults who have shared how God has used Youthbytes to communicate Jesus to them.

“I am a Baima Tibetan, and my name is B.. M... Q.... I am now a high school student. Some people recently introduced me to Youthbytes. We watched the episodes and discussed them together. I was a man who did not know about sin and did not understand what it was. Because of watching Youthbytes, I confessed my sin and repented. Now, when I know I make a mistake, I correct it immediately. I know otherwise the sin will grow bigger and bigger in my life, and it will become very hard to correct it. With faith in Jesus and God’s grace, we know that the precious blood of Jesus washes our sins. He died so we can have life, as well as peace and hope. Until I watched Youthbytes, I did not know the purpose, plan and meaning of my life. Now I know God, and I understand that He can do what He wants to do in our lives. Thanks for your help and thanks for giving me the chance to watch Youthbytes for free. May God remember your work.”
My name is Wu ..........I am a college student; a classmate showed me the YB DVD. Through the DVD, I got to know God’s gracious love, to know and believe in Jesus. I did not know much about life. After watching the DVD, I started to know about sin; I can also see the difference between man’s love and God’s love. I got to know about the life we live, and that we can have eternal hope. I sincerely bless you and thank you, may God remember your love. After watching this DVD, I got to know that the most precious thing in people’s lives is to believe in Jesus; only if we follow him can our lives be meaningful. I did not know this before, but I know this now. Thanks for providing it to us for free!

October 2013

Dear Family, Partners and Friends, I just returned from a two week trip to the southern states of Brazil, Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Having traveled to many of these cities two years ago, it was good to be back and see all that God has been doing. Working in conjunction with the International Grace of God Church, we had 20 meetings in 14 days in 17 cities. As with all of our events, we hit the ground running with very little down time before, during and after each city. What has been great about the ministry in Brazil is the Youthbyte product, or “Jovembytes” as it is known in Portuguese. After an explosive launch in 2010, it is awesome to see that the waves we created then are still making an impact 3 years later. With the release of our final fourth box and airing of the TV program we have become sort of a household name (haha). Using the snake as an object lesson in the beginning was almost an afterthought. Having used our python “Monty” in our very first episode, people just assumed that we used animals all the time; the rest is history. Even as we were scheduling these events, we specifically told the pastors that we were not bringing a snake with us on this tour. Well, the pastors had other plans - at each church, in each state, there was a person with a python or boa availing it to the meetings! Needless to say the people loved it and the teens were thrilled to get a glimpse of the snake; I usually ask the crowd, “So you came to see a snake in church? Really? Who brings a snake to church?” They always point and say “Only you, Chad!” confirming God’s amazing sense of humor!

14 days, 20 meetings in 17 cities in the states of Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

14 days, 20 meetings in 17 cities in the states of Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

Every meeting was visited by a powerful move of God’s Spirit.

Every meeting was visited by a powerful move of God’s Spirit.

The response of the people to the Word of God was inspirational.

The response of the people to the Word of God was inspirational.

In each and every event, as the Word of God went forth, faith would rise in the hearts of the people and the spirit of God would do what only He can do, set people free. The evening services were packed with people standing for hours to hear and participate in the ministry. The altars were always filled with hungry hearts reaching out in faith. Testimonies of deliverance, salvation and healing were common. After the events, hundreds would come forward wanting to take pictures with the snake, share a report of what God had done or just want a hug of reassurance, appreciating that we had come to be with them. Daily radio and television interviews helped communicate the minstry and where each event was held. Thousands responded the call of salvation with great displays of emotion from the hurting and desperate. Jesus loves people and He confirmed it daily!

Since 2010 until now we have held over 250 meetings in Brazil, reaching over 500,000 teens with the Gospel. These events, combined with the sowing of Youthbtye resources and the television broadcast, has not only discipled countless thousands, but has empowered and equipped youth leaders all over the nation. The investment that has been made is continuing to produce fruit each and every day.

As you may or may not know, in January of this year there was a horrendous tragedy in the city of Santa Maria, a city where we had held meetings a year previously. An accidental fire in a local nightclub took the lives of 240 young people. I had the opportunity to visit the club, which is still covered in pictures of teens, notes from parents and countless vases of now withered flowers and cards. It was a moving scene, especially knowing that there were a number of young people from the church who died in the blaze. I do have peace knowing that the Christians who died received their reward in Jesus. We had a powerful event last week as young and old revaluated their hearts, remebering that our mortality is only overcome in Christ!

Thanks again for helping us go into all the world. We could not do what we do without your faithful support.

September 2013

Dear Family, Partners and Friends, I just returned from a month of meetings in Cape Town and the response from students and churches alike was tremendous. We have held over 100 meetings in South Africa in the past year and the momentum of our endeavors has begun to grow, not just through the television and media side, but through the communities as well. God has opened amazing doors of future ministry here that we are honored to invest in.

A great deal of our focus on this trip was in the extremely poor communities, including Mitchell’s Plain, one of South Africa’s largest townships. This colored community carries the burden of being neither black nor white and are therefore stigmatized in many areas of society. But it has been among this community that God has chosen to pour out His grace and power. The school events during the day have been unusual in that there is a diverse mix of faiths and ethnicity. Normally this would pose problems for any communication of the Gospel, but in fact it has been one of the strengths. Unlike the schools in the USA, we are allowed here to preach the Gospel in each and every assembly. Granted, some ask that we keep it a bit neutral, but all do encourage the communication faith, and I am more than willing to communicate authentic faith in Christ!

My friends from Radio Tygerburg in Cape Town were thrilled to get a picture with “Eve”.

As the snakes are used as a visual example and the message that follows captures the heart, it is the manifest presence of God that confirms the word spoken. Young people begin to weep openly as God exposes the hurting areas in their hearts; addiction, rejection, suicide and hopelessness has left a generation hungry and desperate for answers. The message of Christ brings that hope in a powerful way.

At an event in an area called Valhalla Park, amid crack houses, gangsters and squalor, a school had a powerful visitation from the Holy Ghost. As we brought out the snakes, explaining the principle of everything that is small grows, the visual of the small, medium and giant snakes did exactly what they were created to do - expose the nature of sin.

As God stepped into the room, a hush descended on the 300 in attendance. Teachers, administrators and students looked at each other, amazed at what was happening and what they were feeling. The spirit of God was a tangible force, imparting life to all. After the event, the administrators were amazed, thinking our events were purely animalbased morality tales, not knowing that the snakes were strictly used as examples and that the real message and example was Jesus and His heart for young people! A week later we were in another school and the same thing happened; in fact it happens in every school and church we attend. Whether it be Brazil or South Africa, God shows up and shows off!

The principal from Valhalla approached me asking if we would please come back, that in fact the Muslim teachers and students were asking that we return, having never experienced anything like that before. I was thrilled to see that Jesus, when communicated in the purity of His Word, will reveal Himself to all men.

In another colored school we had many young people approach our team after the event and want to speak to us. Muslim girls would come forward revealing self-inflicted scars, done in desperate attempts to silence the internal pain they were experiencing, asking if we could pray for them and expecting Jesus to really help them. Stories of sexual abuse, incest, suicidal thoughts, anorexia, addiction, divorce, adultery and possession were common as the young people approached us for prayer.

This type of thing happened again and again, regardless of the school or color of their skin, Jesus wanted to touch and heal all who were in need.

After a week of school meetings, the culmination was a 3-day weekend event at a local school or church. These meetings were designed to avail the young people to come and experience more of what God had started during the week. As the churches filled and expectant hearts expressed faith, God again showed up to continue His mighty work. Young and old not only experienced an 18 foot, 260 pound python, but were touched by the power of the Gospel and the presence of God.

We also held Life Events, meetings whose sole purpose is to expose the lie of suicide. Utilizing the powerful tool “Sea of Trees”, these events are a continual source of life and deliverance. As the church lights fall, the video begins to play. Without fail, in every event we hold, young people will begin to weep before the conclusion of the video. The power of God will fall at times with such force, that people will fall from their chairs, manifesting the pain and spiritual bondage that is slowly killing them. After the video I share a very short message about my father, his suicide and the freedom that Jesus can bring, and the altars are open for prayer. Hundreds of young and old alike come forward desperate to receive a touch from Jesus. And without fail, their faith, in Him, is always rewarded.

Stories of deliverance, healing and salvation continued for days after the events, confirming to me that we desperately need to get the message of LIFE to a generation before it is too late.

I have already confirmed 4 events in South Africa for 2014, and Cape Town is quickly becoming a destination ordained of God. Although it was an unusually long trip, I felt it was necessary to invest on many fronts, realizing the seed planted today, is tomorrow’s harvest. I am confident that our efforts are not in vain!

Thanks again for your continued partnership; we could not do any of this without you!

July 2013

Dear Family, Partners and Friends,

I hope this finds all doing well. I just returned from two of my favorite Central American countries, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Working in partnership with my friend and missionary Dan Salas, we have been connecting with and providing Jovenbytes material to television broadcasters in the region for the past 18 months. We began broadcasting on Enlace this past December, as well as on Channel 21 in Nicaragua in late 2011. The response we have received has been exciting and unexpected. We were informed that our show, which airs on the Enlace youth network, is one of the most popular and commented-on programs on the network. They are also considering airing the program on a number of different affiliates, which will give us an even greater outreach into South and Central America. We were also able to provide the “Sea of Trees” and “Samurai” suicide shows in Spanish, which will begin airing next month. God has opened many doors of opportunity during the past two weeks; it is overwhelming to see what God will do as we step out in faith and obedience.

I will be leaving for South Africa at the end of the month. For the past year we have been preparing to launch our “Converge” meetings in Cape Town. We have been working together with Joy magazine, which not only has given me a monthly article since March, but has faithfully promoted the upcoming events and Youthbytes in their monthly publications. In March of this year I was able to meet with one of the country’s largest book distributors. After some back and forth communications they committed to distribute Youthbytes in their bookstores around Africa starting next month. This is another avenue by which we can reach and disciple a generation in South Africa. The conclusion of these events will have us completing over 150 meetings in the past 12 months, establishing our methods and outreaches as a proven strategy to touch communities while empowering the leaders with much-needed tools to disciple the harvest

It is always time well spent when I get to minister with my friend & missionary extraordinaire, Dan Salas.

May 2013

Dear Family, Partners and Friends,

The temperature in Southern California is beginniing to spike and this means only one thing: head south of the equator to the nation of Brazil.

I will be leaving for the state of Rio in early June, excited to again be with friends and a generation who is hungry to know more abpout Jesus. It will be a fast paced two weeks with 2-3 services per day. It is exciting because I will be releasing more Youthbytes in Portuguese!

Our latest Youthbyte release “Traps” is scheduled to be released this summer. Yes, that is an actual bear trap

In February we began filming another Youtbyte episode entitled “Traps.” This is a piece that I have long wanted to create and we have stepped out to do it. Working with every sort of trap know to man, we discuss the traps that the enemeny sets for us and how we can, in Christ, see our lives set free in all areas.

In November of last year we traveled to the nation of Cambodia and filmed an episode of Youthbytes that has been 10 years in the making. Having traveled to Cambodia for many years, I have had numerous ideas about using this nation as a back drop to share about the call of God on peoples lives. For two weeks we worked in oppressive heat and conditions that reminded me of a sauna, to create a tool that will provoke an honest response in the hearts of young and old concerning the plan that God has for each of us. As we put the finishngi touches on this episode I ask that you please continute to keep not only our outreaches in prayer, but our production schedule as well. We have a very limited staff in the production arena, 2 to be excact, and the amount of work and ideas that are generated and produced can only be acconplished by nothing less than a miracle from heaven, your prayers ensure we meet the dealines as they become clear. Thanks again for helping us stay on the creative cutting edge of media production.

HOME SWEET HOME

The family is all doing well. As winter ends and summer approaches ,there is a change of activities for all of us. In july it will mark 6 years of our transition to California. Even though we have some of the most liuberl agun laws in the countrywe have aclimated to the desert climate., we have enjoyed making our home here.

Shay is as active as ever, being a mom and wife to me and two active boys keeps at the top of her game 24/7. She has recently begun to volunteer at the Children’s Assesment Center in San Bernardino county and is enjoying her interaction with children in need.

Max will be 15 this summer and is involved in music, water polo and skateboarding. He has had opportunities to lead worship at two different churches in town and it is great to see his gift begin to develop and mature on many levels.

Rhett is as active as any 12 year old should be. With soccer, snowboarding and school, he is constantly on the go.

Brazil is still at the forefront of our outreaches; we have the opportunity to travel back the state of Rio and participate in a series of monthly events during the 2013 calendar year. Should these plans finalize, we will have the opportunity to speak to hundreds of thousands of teens all over the nation. We are also releasing our 4th and final box of “Jovembytes” this year. After having a strong advertising push at Expo Crista in September, we are finalizing the printing and packagChad

March 2013

Dear Family, Partners and Friends,

I hope this finds all doing well. As you read this letter I will have been away from home for 30 days, not because Shay ran me off, but because I had many open doors of opportunity to share the Gospel with thousands of people in Southern Africa. As you know, we had landmark meetings in Johannesburg in September of last year. The response from schools and churches alike encouraged us to continue building on the momentum we have. Working in partnership with churches and relationships we developed last year, we set a heavy schedule of meetings in many areas of the city. These included schools, both public and private, churches and open air meetings. At each venue we brought the snake and iguana, using them as examples of how people hide from things in their life they want no one else to see. Each and every time this message is communicated, we see the same reaction: lives being convicted of sin and the grace of God being poured out to repentant hearts. Another aspect of our outreaches are the Life Events we hold in different parts of the city. Based on our video “Sea of Trees”, I expose the lie behind suicide and how this insidious spirit is affecting young and old around the globe. Without fail, in every Life Event held, there is always a demonic manifestation. In our Johannesburg event we had no less than 6 young people scream out as the demons in them cowered in the presence of God. After talking with the teens after the event, they acknowledged that they were being tempted with thoughts of suicide, were involved in the occult, had attempted suicide, or had someone close to them commit suicide. Regardless of the doorway or sin that bound them, God was faithful to see hurting hearts and set them free! We are continuing our outreaches in South Africa with a large citywide set of events scheduled for July in the city of Cape Town. Please keep these meetings in prayer; we know God is going to do something wonderful!

While in Africa I made many new friends. This was the only one that bit me.

Me and Danie inviting people to the open air event that night. We drew quite the crowd!

What makes our events unusual and readily recieved in different cultures is the fact that we operate completeley out of the religious box. Yes we reach teens, but the majority of our events are focused on people, young and old who do not know Jesus. It is not very often that a communicator comes to town, a Christian one at that, and brings a 20 foot python and iguana to use as an object lesson. It captures the imagination and stirs the heart of the religious to come and see what is going on.

When they arrive they have no idea what to expect, but God knows exactly what He is doing. As the message and examples are used and the Word is read, the Spirit of God begins to move, and many times in a very dramatic way. The tangible presence of God fills the enviroment and the people are amazed that something this weird could capture the hearts and minds of those in attendance. We have done hundreds of meetings like this around the world and without fail, Jesus convicts, loves and redeems the lost in the crowd. The demon possesed cry out and the sick are healed. This is the beauty and simplicity of the Gospel. When we go and seek the lost, using what God has placed in our hand (for me it is a snake- so weird!) He will always show up and show off, confirming His Lordship over every man’s life!

The ministry events in South Africa were incredible, but given the proximity of other nations located in Southern Africa, we chose to expand our outreaches. Our first stop was Swaziland. Having visited Swaziland many times over the past 10 years, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to hold a youth event there. This was only possible with the cooperation of two other ministries, Healing Place Church and Challenge Ministries. Each of these organizations were more than willing to offer their time and services to see this event accomplihsed. We utilized the same model we have been using in Africa. We hold school events during the day and invite them to the evening meetings, in this case held at Healing Place Church. The three day event culminated with over 500 in attendance the last night and countless rededications and salvations. God was faithful as hungry, wounded hearts responded to the power of His Spirit present in each nights service. I was thrilled to see that in a nation steeped in withcraft and ancestor worship there is a generation who is willing to throw off the traditions and superstitions of the past and press into a relationship with Jesus.

Our next stop was the nation of Mozambique. This is a fascinating country, one that I had never had the opportunity to visit over my many years of travel in Africa. Torn by civil war and political disputes, Mozambigue resembles something that one may see in the middle east. Dirt roads, narrow streets, walled compunds and much more. It was however a great place to have a youth event. Working again with Healing Place Church, we were able to hold a one night event in the capital city of Moputu. It is always a challenge to go to a new country not knowing the nuisances and customs of that nation. I must admit I was a little intimidated. But as usual, God showed up and showed off as He has done countless time before. I was excited to see young people stand to accept a call to ministry and for those who made fresh commitments to Jesus. God is truly no respector of persons and He is committed to impart grace and mercy to all who would call on His name and respond to the gift of His son Jesus.

Me and my son Max will be traveling to Costa Rica this summer. Youthbytes, Jovenbytes, went on the Enlace network early this year and we have recieved wonderful feed back. We will be visiting the station, connecting with friends and doing a few television interviews for them. We will then travel to Nicaragua to visit with another televison station in the capital city of Managua and hold a few church youth events. None of this would be possible if it were not for my favorite missionaries, Dan & Cindy Salas who have graciously offered to host us and feed us in their beautiful home located in San Jose Costa Rica!

Thanks for your continued support and friendship, we could not do any of this with you!

December 2012

Dear Family, Partners and Friends, I hope this finds all doing well. We recently returned from Cambodia after filming our latest version of Youthbytes, entitled “The Call.”

As you know, this was one of the first trips on which I was able to bring my son Max. I was amazed at how well he adapted to another culture and different food options. With little or no jet lag, he proved to be a worthy, trouble-free, hard-working travel companion.

We left LAX on a Sunday morning and landed in Cambodia at 10 pm the following day. After 20 hours in the air, we were ready to get to the hotel. As usual in Cambodia at this time of the year, rain comes and goes at all hours of the day. The rainy season ended two weeks before and we were hopeful that the rain would continue to hold back enough to get our projects completed. With a heartfelt prayer we knew God would have mercy on us. Our prayers should have included the temperature as well, as it was a consistent 90 plus degrees with 150% humidity; it was bearable, but made every shot of me appear as if I had just gotten out of the shower. God, however, held the rain back for us and we could not have been happier. Having been to Siem Reap many times before, I was aware of the obstacles and problems we may face, especially shooting in an ancient protec-ted enviroment like Angkor Wat. With cameras in hand we began our journey, filming a piece that I believe will speak to thousands of teens concerning the call of God on their lives. Max and my veteran travel companion and videographer, Paul Black, worked as hard as I have ever seen, and that is saying something considering the schedules we keep. Visiting the vast temple complexes, the outlying rural areas of Siem Reap, the war museum and garbage dump, we shot hours of breathtaking footage and captured a message that I have wanted to do for many years. Connecting with old friends, we were able to visit a childrens’ home in the region that I have been to many times. It was good to see some old faces and some new ones. Max was thrilled to get the perspective a visit like that can provide.

Max did a great job documenting our production and made some friends along the way.

In other news, we are very excited about our efforts in South America! Earlier this year, we completed our entire discipleship program and television broadcast into Spanish and launched its completion at “Expolit” in Miami. It was here we were approached by Enlace television about airing our program all over South America on their network; needless to say, we were thrilled at this prospect and signed a year contract. Beginning in December of this year they will begin airing our program. I am so excited that this vision is coming to pass; it has taken a lot of faith, time and money to get to this point. God is up to something good!

Brazil continues to be very heavy on my heart. So many invitations and open doors, so little time! After attending “Expo Crista” last October, we felt God positioning us to do more. He has presented opportunities that will put me in Brazil 10 times during 2013. The events held will be citywide and will be held in conjunction with my friend and recording artisit Thalles Roberto, who is taking the country by storm. We are expecting to speak face-to-face to over half a million kids in the next 12 months! We are also releasing our fourth boxed set in 2013 and will begin airing our Portuguese television program on local networks in January. It is a wonderful opportunity to preach Jesus to a generation!

Thanks again for helping us reach a generation with the Gospel - we could not do it without your friendship and faithful support! Chad & Shay
